We are looking for a Production Planner for a 12-month contract based in Winsford on behalf of our globally respected client who develops cutting-edge technologies that deliver clean, safe and competitive solutions to meet the planet's vital power needs.
Job description - the role
As a Production Planner, you will report to the Head of Operations and have the responsibility for delivering flexible, high quality and robust materials requirements planning support as part of an integrated team.
As a Production Planner, you will be responsible for:
1. Ensuring the ERP system is maintained with robust & credible material requirement planning data for both Buy and Make items, which support the delivery of customers' requirements.
2. Creating and executing work orders or purchase orders for the production or purchase of components or assemblies based on MRP and independent demand requirements.
3. Coordinating cross-functional activity as required to ensure the fulfilment of MRP output requirements that are achieved on time in full (OTIF).
4. Expediting Make and/or Buy orders as required via the internal and external supply chains.
5. Providing the required information and updates at production and project meetings regarding the progress of procured materials and completion of production work.
6. Operating to the relevant policies and procedures of the business.
What we require from the candidate:
1. A minimum of 3 years' post-training experience in a production planning role, ideally based in an engineering make/repair to order type business.
2. Highly self-motivated, with strong interpersonal, team working and influencing skills.
3. Able to make sound, logical decisions based on available data.
4. Experience of working on projects where ambiguity may exist and change often occurs.
5. Demonstrated ability to manage deliveries and make balanced business decisions under challenging circumstances.
6. Good understanding of the contribution that other functions (engineering, quality, production etc.) make to the accuracy and success of a master production schedule.
7. Experience of production planning and associated control processes.
