Role Responsibilities for the Manufacturing Engineer job: Develop and maintain robust, cost-efficient manufacturing processes and product structures in line with lean manufacturing practices. Stay mindful of process and test capabilities while recognizing organizational core competencies. Perform root cause and failure analysis as needed. Lead cost-out events and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Apply lean manufacturing techniques to eliminate waste and meet customer expectations. Implement methods to reduce variation and enhance process reliability. Utilize Six Sigma Design and Development strategies to address variation sources and tolerance impacts in assemblies. Apply SPC and gage R&R effectively. Engage in concurrent engineering efforts and critical design reviews to optimize product development costs and longevity. Conduct Design for Manufacturing and value engineering initiatives. Develop work breakdown structures to support cost estimation. Participate in new product development projects using ProLaunch for deliverable articulation and schedule commitment. Qualifications for the Manufacturing Engineer job: Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline. Degree in Six Sigma or a similar subject. Required Skills for the Manufacturing Engineer job: In-depth knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques such as value stream mapping and one-piece flow. Understanding of Six Sigma concepts and tools for minimizing process/product variability, including regression analysis, design of experiments, and hypothesis testing. Proficiency in problem-solving methodologies for root cause determination and corrective actions, such as thought maps, 8D, root cause analysis, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis, Gage R&R, control charts, and Pareto charts. Proficiency in various software applications, including CAD, CAM, MS Office suite, and MiniTab. Knowledge of manufacturing principles and technical specifications, including metal cutting, tool design, injection molding, welding, and soldering. Ability to lead cross-functional process improvement teams. Detailed knowledge of engineering design and product reliability concepts for fluid dynamics, thermal dynamics, and electronic circuits analysis. Understanding of ProLaunch. Familiarity with industry and customer-specific quality processes, including ISO9001 and AS9100. Knowledge of product testing requirements and end-user application specifications.
