Job Title: Commissioning Supervisor

Job Description Summary
The Commissioning Supervisor is responsible for assisting the commissioning manager in overseeing, leading, coordinating, managing and planning commissioning activities on our Yaxley project ensuring that performance meets recognised standards of productivity, quality and compliance with essential health and safety provisions. Provide operational support and feedback to the Commissioning Manager and the Field Operations Manager ensuring the implementation of all procedures and policies whilst providing support and guidance to other members of the site management and delivery teams. This individual will also need to enact the role of LVAP, ensuring safety from the low voltage system and leading the associated safe system of work.
Complete all necessary internal reporting to a high standard and lead by example when interfacing with external parties such as clients, project stakeholders, sub-consultants/subcontractors, enforcement agencies, local planning authorities & statutory bodies.
Responsibilities
1. Understand the Company Health & Safety and Environmental (SHE) Policies and Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company’s operations and ensure the requirements are implemented.
2. Ensure compliance to CDM regulations on site.
3. Undertake detailed site inspections.
4. Produce reports or provide information in a timely manner.
5. Attend and cascade briefings as directed and in a timely manner.
6. Perform On Call duties as directed.
7. Perform fluidity tasks to ensure work can be executed on time and without issue.
8. Liaise with customers, clients, local authorities and other interested third parties regarding past, present or future works.
9. Provide sufficient and timely support, assessment and coaching to ensure sub-contractors are performing to agreed production levels.
10. Ensure quality checks are completed in line with contract specification and contract statement of requirements.
11. Maintain own levels of skill and knowledge to do the job effectively.
12. Perform other duties as directed by your line manager or management team.
13. Comply with the relevant Company HSQE and welfare policy provisions.
14. Support client and ensure all agreed KPIs are met or exceeded.
15. Ensure operative records are accurate and kept up to date each week.
16. Provide operational and functional management advice on the practical implementation of the company’s policies and processes including external stakeholders such as customers if necessary.
17. Assist and/or manage the investigation of accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences, near misses and other incidents.
18. Promote best practice, capture best practice and ensure it is fed-back into the business.
19. Set standards and lead by example in health, safety, quality & environmental management.
20. Assist the Field Operations Manager with the implementation of all procedures and policies across other sites other than just their own.
21. Lead the development of commissioning strategy and develop objectives into business planning and project strategy.
22. Oversee the planning, preparation and implementation of commissioning documentation to support construction activities with Field Operations.
23. Develop and refine methodologies, tools, and standards for commissioning practice. Responsible for implementing relevant industry developments.
24. Assist in project reviews, evaluations and proposals for utilisation of commissioning resource.
25. Drive the implementation of commissioning procedures as required by the project.
26. Lead and oversee the development and implementation of company Electrical Systems of Works including appointing necessary roles.
27. Lead management of commissioning programs, reporting and progress.
28. Attend FATS and SATS as necessary.
29. Assist site teams in project deliverables for contract execution.
30. Other duties as assigned.
31. Remain updated with industry trends, regulations, and advancements in temporary works practices in the transmission sector to ensure continuous improvement and compliance.
Minimum Qualifications Required
1. Full UK driving licence.
2. HNC/ HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent demonstrable experience / training.
3. SMSTS or IOSH or Equivalent.
4. Grid Persons.
5. Varied knowledge of substation equipment from various OEM’s.
6. Must have the right interpersonal skills and communication skills to build a culture of trust with the site team.
7. Minimum of 8 years’ experience working within HV sector.
8. Minimum of 5 years as a commissioning engineer.
9. Experience and understanding of Grid TP141 and its associated documents and forms.
10. Experience managing and/or working under LV SSoW.
11. Must have a strong LV & HV knowledge.
12. The ability to empathise, communicate and influence stakeholders and the Project Team.
13. The ability to lead by example and motivate the project team.
14. Excellent organizational, communication and time management skills.
15. Be able to work on own initiative.
16. Computer literate.
17. Must have commercial awareness and understand the effect of site based activities on the project financial performance.
18. Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively, particularly to external parties such as the client, their customers and local authorities.
19. Must have the skills and confidence to direct and coordinate project requirements and tasks.
20. Must have an understanding/ knowledge of the clients Transmission procedures.
21. Must have a strong understanding of engineering drawings and the management of drawing systems.
