Overview:
Position Type: Term-time only, Part-time : 20 hours per week, flexible arrangements possible
We are seeking a passionate and creative Arts and Design Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in visual arts and design, with experience teaching primary and secondary school students, ideally with the IB. This role involves teaching visual arts to primary school students and Art & Design to our Year 7/8/9/10 secondary students. The remaining time will be spent on prep and maintaining the art studio. The successful candidate will inspire and engage students in exploring their creativity, developing their artistic skills, and fostering their passion for art and design.
What You Will Do
This role is a blend of hands-on teaching, collaboration, and studio management, designed to foster a love of art and design in students of all ages.
Primary Teaching (4 Hours per Week)
* Deliver engaging, exploratory visual arts lessons that nurture creativity and imagination.
* Develop age-appropriate curriculum that encourages students to experiment with different media, techniques, and styles.
* Foster an inclusive, supportive space where students feel confident expressing themselves artistically.
* Integrate art and design into cross-curricular projects and school events.
Secondary Teaching (9 Hours per Week)
* Design and implement a comprehensive Art & Design curriculum aligned with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP).
* Develop concept-based, inquiry-driven lessons that encourage critical thinking and problem-solving.
* Guide students in using various traditional and digital art techniques, including design software.
* Provide regular feedback, support students' creative growth, and assess their artistic progress.
* Promote interdisciplinary connections and real-world applications of design.
Additional Responsibilities
* MYP Collaboration (1.5 hours per week): Work with colleagues to integrate IB learning principles across disciplines.
* Art Studio Organisation & Maintenance (2 hours per week): Ensure materials, equipment, and space are well-organised and inspiring.
* Lesson Planning (4 hours per week): Prepare innovative, engaging lessons that cater to diverse learning needs.
Who You Are
* Qualified teacher with a degree in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Design, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
* Experience teaching at both primary and secondary levels, ideally with IB MYP experience.
* Strong knowledge of art history, theory, and practical techniques across multiple media.
* Proficiency in art and design software/tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Autodesk Sketchbook).
* A creative, dynamic educator who inspires students to think critically and push boundaries.

Please Note: Due to the outdoor element of the school there are physical demands of this role. The work is practical by definition and moderate levels of physical effort. It involves lifting and handling of training equipment, play equipment and other resources and to be involved in practical activities and physical care of learners and the environment. Activities are mainly out of doors and this will require walking and managing on uneven surfaces and in unpredictable weather conditions. You are required to be a role model for the staff and learners you work with, adhering to the Health & Safety procedures.
