Job Overview
The client/employer is seeking a Mechanical Project Manager to oversee commercial construction projects - new build & refurbishments.
Your first project for this Nottinghamshire-based business is to manage a Military Accommodation Block refurbishment valued at circa 1.5m in mechanical services & plant rooms.
Initial duties whilst waiting for the project to commence will include pre-construction for your project along with temporarily assisting with estimation and managing some smaller projects until the MoD project requires your attention full-time. During this period, your working time will be split between working from home and some time in the offices in Nottinghamshire.
As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
You will coordinate with various teams, manage resources effectively, and maintain compliance with safety regulations.
Responsibilities
1. Oversee daily site operations and ensure adherence to project timelines.
2. Manage and supervise site staff, subcontractors, and suppliers.
3. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and quality of work.
4. Implement health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
5. Prepare reports on project status, including progress updates and resource allocation.
6. Maintain accurate records of materials used and work completed.
7. Ensure effective time management across all aspects of the project.
Experience
Previous experience within the construction industry, possibly as a Supervisor, Chargehand, Project Engineer, or Junior Project Manager.
Strong knowledge of mechanical installation processes (plumbing, heating, plant rooms, etc.), materials, and technical knowledge.
Good time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to help manage teams.
Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently under pressure.
