As they support the transition to a low-carbon energy future, we are recruiting for a Senior Lead Engineer – Economic Analysis to join their Future Power Systems team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the long-term planning of energy infrastructure and support critical national and European projects aimed at achieving net-zero emissions. The Role: You will play a key part in developing long-term energy system scenarios, running complex modelling studies, and providing technical and economic insights to help shape future policy and infrastructure investment. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a passion for sustainable energy systems. Key Responsibilities: Lead the delivery of technical modelling projects related to scenario planning and electricity system design. Collaborate with teams to develop robust energy models aligned with national and European policy. Analyse the economic impact of new technologies, including interconnection, long-duration storage and renewables. Provide strategic insight to internal and external stakeholders based on advanced modelling outputs. Guide and mentor junior team members and manage external consultants as needed. Represent the organisation at national and European working groups and forums. ✅ Ideal Candidate: A degree in Engineering, Economics, Maths or related discipline with 5 years industry experience. Proven knowledge of energy systems, power markets, and techno-economic modelling. Advanced use of Excel, Python, or similar coding tools. Experience with scenario planning tools and energy modelling software (e.g., Plexos desirable). Excellent communication skills, able to present technical findings to non-technical audiences.
