Medical Secretary - CAMHS Development post
Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust
CAMHS is a specialist mental health service for children and young people who have moderate to severe mental health problems. The service offers face-to-face clinic-based and video conferencing approaches to delivering care and assessments over four sites across the county.
A brand-new developmental post has arisen for a Senior Medical Secretary working for Worcestershire CAMHS supporting our psychiatrists. We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced individual to join our team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be working 37.5 hours per week, over 5 days based at Kidderminster Health Centre.
Main duties of the job
As this role is a developmental role within our team, you will commence working as a band 3 administrator and undertake a 6-8 month Medical Terminology Level 3 training. Once this has been completed and you have passed, you will be moved into a band 4 Senior Medical Secretary role. This role will be providing an efficient and smooth-running secretarial service to the Psychiatrists/Consultants. You will make arrangements for appointments as required, maintain a diary and appointment system for clinics, and make arrangements for special appointments for patients/relatives, consultations in the home, and emergency visits as required. Handle telephone enquiries regarding appointments and cancellations, referring where necessary to the appropriate person. You may also be asked to cover reception across the Worcestershire CAMHS localities.
The ability to use your initiative, work proactively, demonstrate excellent communication and influencing skills, manage and prioritise your own workload, and respond flexibly to changing demands are essential requirements of the role.
We are a supportive and passionate team, and you will receive full training to ensure you can succeed in this role.
