South Tyneside and Gateshead sexualheath team has an exciting opportunity for a passionate and committed sexualhealth nurse practitioner. This parttime role (30 hours) will be predominantlybased within the community sexual health clinic at PalmersCommunity Hospital, however, to meet service need, the post holder mayalso be required to work from the Sexual Healthservice at Trinity Square Gateshead.We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrable experience ofworking as a nurse within an integrated sexual health service and is competent,working within agreed guidelines to sensitively manage the patient journey.
We are a friendly, community based,multi-disciplinary team, committed to delivering high quality, integratedsexual health care for the local population.The post holder will work as part of the wider sexual health team andwill be required to liaise with the clinical colleagues regularly to supporteffective running of the clinic and provide an excellent service for ourpatients.
Main duties of the job
The sexualhealth service is part of the community directorate within South Tyneside andSunderland Foundation Trust.
The successfulcandidate will be a registered nurse with the NMC, with evidence of previousexperience working within an integrated sexual health setting,
Tocoordinate the delivery and development of the sexual health service throughthe use of effective evidence based practice in line within agreed national andlocal guidelines,
Workingwithin clinical guidelines to manage episodes of care in both sexual &reproductive healthcare and genitourinary medicine.
Maintainand respect strict confidentiality standards for service users
Maintaina sensitive and non-judgemental approach when working with service users
Thepost holder will be required to work evening and weekend duties as part of amonthly roster.
Thepost holder will be required to travel to outreach clinic locations and formeetings as necessary.
Ableto work effectively as part of the wider sexual health team and demonstrateexcellent communication skills.

To co-ordinate the delivery and development of the sexual health service using effective evidence-based practice in line with agreed national standards for patient safety and monitoring.
To be accountable for the planning and delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate patient care in relation to dedicated pathways of care, working as an autonomous practitioner.
To continuously improve clinical care standards in line with the clinical governance framework.

Physical Skills
Essential
1. Developed physical skills with a need for accuracy to undertake for example: Venepuncture, Administration of local anaesthetic, Insertion of contraceptive implant
2. Basic keyboard skills
3. Use of electronic resources to input, save and provide data and information, making full use of the electronic record system.
Qualifications
Essential
4. Current 1st level NMC registration
5. Degree in nursing studies or relevant clinical degree (UK equivalent)
6. Practice assessor training or demonstrable equivalent experience
7. Recognised competency-based qualifications in integrated sexual health, Management of Sexually Transmitted Infections and Contraception in Practice, or Integrated Sexual Health Module, or equivalent
8. Evidence of competency achievement in Sub-dermal implant insertion and removal or willingness to complete.
9. Evidence of Cervical cytology qualification or willingness to complete.

10. Non-medical prescribing or willingness to complete.
