Are you excited about an outstanding opportunity to become a valued member of a world-class engineering team? Baxter is currently in search of a highly motivated Field Services Engineer with an electrical bias to join our team. Your base will be Thetford, UK however you will be travelling for 50% of your time, primarily within the UK but also in Europe (company van available). In this role, you will have the chance to make a significant impact by enhancing equipment availability, reliability, and capability at our Compounding sites who manufacture life saving medicine such as chemotherapy and nutrition. There will be a platform to demonstrate your problem-solving abilities and oversee maintenance operations whilst learning and developing in your career.
The role is contracted 37.5 hours per week but it would be various working patterns depending on the workload. For example, you could spend 3 days in Croydon and then have the rest of the week off. There is an opportunity for overtime and days in lieu depending on what the week looks like. This role will include working bank holidays however not over

What you'll be doing:
10. Demonstrate a Safety first approach to every single aspect of the role.
11. Lead problem-solving, identifying and resolving issues at the core of compounding plant and equipment.
12. Lead shutdown planning and execution, inclusive of shutdown and start-up activities.
13. Work relentlessly to ensure that plant availability & OEE metrics are continuously improved.
14. Deliver best-in-class equipment availability and reliability through reactive, preventative, and predictive maintenance techniques.
15. Plan and carry out the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of all critical equipment within the Compounding Units.
16. Develop and implement Preventative Maintenance procedures & schedules that assure product quality aligned with Baxter Perfect Equipment requirements.
17. Coordinate the engineering activities, leading contractors, service providers, installation engineers, etc.
18. Perform administrative functions, review and write reports, and make decisions on the purchase of parts, equipment, and services.
19. Identify and manage critical spares inventory for the Units and coordinate with Compounding Unit Engineers for parts sharing initiatives.
20. Manage external contractors in line with EHS safe systems of work and resources from OEMs, service providers, calibration providers, installation engineers.
21. Review contractors' day sheets to enable accuracy of information, problem resolution, and cost-effectiveness.
22. Interact with the Engineering Management, Unit Managers, Operations, Validation, Quality Management, Production Staff, Contractors, OEMs, etc.
Qualifications/Experience required:
These are a list of desired skills/attributes but most importantly we are looking for an individual who is passionate about engineering and wants to develop and learn along the way.
23. Degree qualified OR relevant qualifications i.e NVQ’s/ HNC
24. Cleanroom/aseptic manufacturing practical work would be desired but is not essential.
25. Technical understanding of cleanroom plant would be desired but is not essential.
26. Excellent communication skills (you will be communicating with multiple Baxter employees across multiple sites)
27. Experience of operating within maintenance and project engineering functions.
28. Full UK driving license is required due to the travel included in the role
29. PLC knowledge would be advantageous, particularly working with Siemens and TIA Portal, Step 7, and Profinet Communication Networks/Systems but is not essential
30. Knowledge of GMP standards.
