Homer Burgess, part of RSK Group, is a successfully family-run company founded in 1958 and based in Dumfries, Scotland, is a well-known and respected mechanical engineering business offering design, fabrication, installation, repair and maintenance service.
We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join our team at our headquarters in Dumfries, Scotland, reporting directly to the Managing Director.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who thrives in a diverse role, enjoys problem solving and wants to be a key part of a growing and supportive team.
The role will sit within the operations team made up of 8 including operations managers, draftsmen & the SHEQ team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Oversight: Oversee & manage a variety of projects, across different areas of the business, ensuring timely delivery and quality outcomes.
2. Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies and implement lean processes to enhance productivity, reduce waste and maintain high quality standards.
3. Operations & Co-ordination: Collaborate with the operations team to streamline workflows, improve communication and support daily operations.
4. Business Development Support: Assist in identifying opportunities for growth, client engagement, and market expansion.
5. People & Team Development: Work closely with employees to foster a culture of continuous improvement, training and professional growth.
6. Financial & Resource Management: Oversee budgets, resources, and timelines to ensure projects align with business objectives and profitability.
7. Sustainability Initiatives: Contribute to our commitment to sustainability by identifying and implementing eco solutions that enhance efficiency and reduce our environmental impact.
Person Specification:
1. Experience in project management or a similar leadership role.
2. A hands-on problem solver who enjoys taking on diverse responsibilities.
3. Excellent communicator and team player, capable of working across all levels of the business.
4. A passion for efficiency, quality and sustainable business practices.
5. Strong project management skills with ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.
6. Ability to lead and follow instruction, be self-motivated, exhibit a proactive approach, work well within a team environment and be willing to be flexible to work nationally if the occasion arises.
7. Experience in process improvement, operations or business development is a plus.

We are renowned for our repair and maintenance service offering, providing a range of on- and off-site services, including maintenance service programmes, fitting work around shutdown windows and quieter periods to minimise disruption to the client’s operations.
We work with clients to provide bespoke design solutions with a team of highly qualified and experienced engineers working from an extensive site, including a fabrication shop, metalwork, milling, lathe, roller and compressor equipment. Our business is approved for welding and specialises in fabricating steelwork, tanks, vessels, pipework and machinery.
Our services include engineering design and solutions, fabrication, machining, milling, turning and grinding and using computer-aided design (CAD), 2D drawing and 3D modelling. We work with clients to understand requirements and to solve problems, offering appropriate solutions.
