An exciting opportunity has arisen for Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners (t-ACPs) to be part of the inflammatory dermatology team at NCIC. The post holder will work to deliver new and exciting treatments within Inflammatory Dermatology as part of a wider team.
Advanced clinical practitioners (ACP) come from a range of professional backgrounds such as nursing, pharmacy, paramedics and occupational therapy. They are healthcare professionals educated to Master's level or equivalent, with the skills and knowledge to allow them to expand their scope of practice to better meet the needs of the people they care for.
Main duties of the job
The trainee ACP is a junior clinician with clinical care being their prime responsibility. All ACPs should be competent to practice all Trust core competencies and as such be capable of working in all clinical areas to the standards set within the competency framework.
The ACP will be expected to support the setting and delivery of high quality, evidence-based care. This post does not have direct budgetary responsibilities, but together with Department Managers and Matron will influence the resource issues of the department.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to Master's degree level or has proven ability to this level
* Leadership qualification or equivalent
* Non medical prescribing V300 module
Knowledge
* Evidence of management skills gained through theory and / or practice
* Knowledge and understanding of clinical governance and its implications on practice
* Awareness of risk management
* Knowledge of audit, evaluation and use of outcome measures
* Experience of mentoring and developing staff
* Extensive knowledge of dermatology and skin cancer
* Research experience
* Awareness of local and national drivers
Skills
* Ability to problem solve, analyse, compare and interpret complex information before making a decision
* Prioritise clinical workload and assess associated risks, taking appropriate action
* Demonstrate good organisational skills
* Ability to present information to individuals and groups as required using appropriate resources
* Has physical skills to ensure accuracy and dexterity required for a number of clinical procedures
* Surgical skills in both biopsy and excisional skin surgery for both inflammatory condition and skin cancer
Responsibilities
* Ensure awareness of consultant plans for their client groups and communicate plans to junior medical staff for their completion where the ACP is unable to complete
* Follow national, Trust policies and procedures and ensure other members of staff do likewise.
* Support development of the ACP service, area of practice and self
* Contribute to policy and practice changes
* Support Ward/unit sister in the effective management of resources and safe use of equipment
* Ensure equipment utilised is maintained and take responsibility for the appropriate safe handling and storage of patient's personal possessions
* Participate in the recruitment of staff
* Accurately maintain patient records; record own data
* Use the results of research to inform own clinical practice
