South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation trust offers you the opportunity to develop your professional skills in the core areas of neurology, medical, respiratory, surgical and ITU, orthopaedic and musculoskeletal interventions in both acute and community hospitals, and within community services.
You will receive support and supervision from senior staff, enabling you to develop your clinical and leadership skills in a supportive environment. We are an inclusive and flexible team.
The Band 5 posts are rotational and involve working in different hospitals within Warwickshire, as well as some GP clinics. There is also the opportunity for rotations within the community paediatric team and adult community team.
There is a requirement to participate in the out of hours’ service helping to provide cover at weekends and Bank holidays, and overnight on-call.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide a high standard physiotherapy service to patients within in-patient and out-patient specialities.
2. To participate in the band 5 physiotherapy rotational scheme this involves rotations working across the trust in both acute and community settings.
3. To work as an accountable practitioner, holding responsibility for own caseload, working within codes of practice and professional guidelines. Work is managed rather than supervised.
4. To keep accurate records of patient contact using written records and electronic data capture.
5. To participate in weekend working and the on call physiotherapy service.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent in physiotherapy
* Registration with the HCPC
Experience
* Evidence of experience of core placements within MSK, Resp, Ortho, Med/Neuro at undergraduate and post graduate (if applicable) levels
* Experience of contribution to clinical education / supervision of peers or less experienced staff
* Involvement in clinical audit / research and understanding quality issues
Skills
* Basic knowledge of a broad range of conditions
* Adequate clinical reasoning skills to assess and justify the treatment of a wide range of disorders
* Demonstrate up to date knowledge of physiotherapy treatment options and research
* Have the ability to set realistic treatment objectives.
* Able to demonstrate a knowledge of clinical governance & legal responsibilities of the profession
* Ability to produce accurate and legible documentation
Personal Qualities
* Able to present information orally in a clear and logical manner
* Able to communicate effectively with patients to maximise their rehabilitation potential.
* Able to influence and persuade other professionals, patients and others.
* Able to work effectively as part of a team.
* Self-motivation and self-organisation skills
* Be aware of own learning needs/ commitment to CPD
* Willingness to take on and manage additional roles and responsibilities e.g. student rep, H&S Rep
Other
* Able to be flexible within the working hours of the department, to suit client and department needs. This includes on call and out of hours.
* Applicant must have good standard of written and spoken English
* Car Driver and independent means of transport.
* Able to pass Occupational Health requirements.
* Willing to undertake a Criminal Records Disclosure to enhanced level.
* Legally entitled to work in this country.
