Context
We are seeking an Engineer with experience in the Highways Sector to be part of our growing and vibrant Infrastructure team in Birmingham. Reporting to the Principal Engineer and Associate Director for the Midlands, you will play an important role within the team to support with the delivery of projects safely, efficiently, and effectively.
Missions/Main Duties
We are seeking an individual who has a technical background and shares our enthusiasm and determination to deliver successful projects. The candidate will form part of an existing team already delivering a varied programme of highway and transportation schemes for a wide range of public and private sector clients across both the local and strategic highway networks.
You can expect to work on development infrastructure projects from feasibility through to detailed design including highway design and drainage design, associated technical and statutory authority approvals.
You will form part of a team preparing designs and drawings from concept through to detailed design as well as technical reports on a variety of projects of varying scale.
Successful candidates will have a MEng/MSc or BEng in Civil Engineering, and ideally are working toward their Professional Qualification, and have demonstrated Civil Engineering experience within a consultancy environment. The role will suit a self-motivated individual who can take an active role in project delivery and form part of a dynamic team delivering high-quality projects.
Profile/Skills
* Demonstrated Civil Engineering experience within a consultancy environment.
* Knowledge and experience of delivering highway & drainage design; S278/38 Approval process.
* Experience of highway technical design on major or minor projects including an understanding of design principles and the ability to practically apply them.
* Knowledge and use of DMRB, MCHW, MfS, TSM, Local Authority guides, etc and their applications.
* Knowledge of standard engineering practices and a demonstrable understanding of Health and Safety including CDM.
* Must be IT literate with experience of AutoCAD/Civil3D or other road design packages to design and detail highway and drainage infrastructure.
* Experience of working with Public and Private sector is preferable.
* Adaptable, self-motivated, enthusiastic, hardworking, and desire to self-progress.
* Flexibility, agility, and a willingness to learn new skills.
* Ability to work under own initiative as well as working as part of a team.
* Ability to determine appropriate solution with innovation and value.
* Communication skills to be capable of communicating effectively with colleagues, Clients and external teams.
* Ability to work collaboratively with a range of design teams and project stakeholders.
* Good written skills along with the preparation of technical reports and fee proposals.
