Band 7 Ward Manager - Ashdown Ward
Job overview
Are you a compassionate leader who is committed to working collaboratively to deliver high-quality care?
We are looking to appoint a B7 Ward Manager for Ashdown Ward at Fountain Way Hospital. The successful candidate will work closely with the MDT, Modern Matron, Senior Practitioner, and experienced Ashdown nursing team.
This is a demanding and rewarding post where the ward manager is pivotal in ensuring standards and performance are maintained to the highest levels. The person we are looking for should be able to demonstrate key leadership skills to empower the nursing team as they strive to achieve standards of care in line with both the Trust and National guidance.
The role is dynamic and challenging, and we are looking for someone who is highly motivated, innovative, and enthusiastic who can demonstrate an eagerness for the ongoing development of the service.
Ashdown Ward is a 6-bedded psychiatric intensive care unit for male adults with a mental illness. The Ashdown nursing team works closely on-site with three other wards: Beechlydene - Mixed Acute, Amblescroft North - Later Life Functional Unit, and Amblescroft South - Later Life Organic Unit.
Main duties of the job
The role will incorporate managing and developing inpatient staff, being involved with clinical complex care reviews and decision-making, championing new ideas, and facilitating them into practice. We are also looking for someone motivated and interested in continuing the reducing restrictive practice work the team has achieved.
You will be a registered professional with post-registration experience, including experience in a Band 6 position. You will have experience of working in a team and excellent communication skills.
You will often work under pressure and without direct supervision, so we are looking for someone confident and capable. You will prioritize tasks and manage your own workload, providing support to your colleagues when required. You will become an integral member of the team, working to ensure that every patient receives high-quality care.
This role involves:
1. Planning and co-ordinating the quality and management of nursing care, patient care, and the clinical environment
2. Roster management
3. Quality improvement objectives
4. Ensuring the ward complies with statutory regulations, current legislation, and meets quality standards
5. Responsibility for efficient and effective use of nursing resources
