Music Teacher
Salary: £30,000 - £46,525

GSL Education is currently seeking a passionate and talented Music Teacher for one of the local Secondary Schools in The New Forest. The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality music education to secondary school students, devising engaging lesson plans, and monitoring student progress in adherence to the national curriculum. This role involves collaboration with the Music department and close work with the Head of Faculty. The school emphasises fostering creativity, critical thinking, and a love for music, which are integral to its ethos.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and deliver Music lessons aligned with the national curriculum, catering to individual student needs.
* Employ diverse teaching methods, including lectures, group activities, and practical music sessions, to enhance student engagement.
* Evaluate student progress through regular assessments, homework, and tests.
* Provide constructive feedback to students and parents, identifying areas for improvement and success strategies.
* Utilise technology and resources to enrich the learning experience.
* Participate in extracurricular activities like school concerts, music clubs, and field trips.
* Collaborate with colleagues to implement school-wide programs and initiatives.
Specific Duties:
* Work closely with the Head of Music and members of the SLT to ensure the visions and ethos for the school are effective and pertinent to all aspects of school life.
* Be an outstanding practitioner and carry out the functions of a teacher in accordance with the teaching standards and the stated aims and objectives of the school.
* Establish good working relationships and encourage good working practices.
* Support and promote the ethos of the school.
* Plan and deliver creative and stimulating music lessons.
* Ensure the appropriate support is in place for students with varying musical abilities.
* Plan work in accordance with the curriculum area programme of study and ensure it addresses the personalised learning needs of every student.
* Liaise with relevant colleagues on the planning units of work for collaborative delivery.
* Take account of students’ prior levels of learning and achievement and use them to set targets for future improvements and in daily planning.
* Secure progress towards students’ targets and reward achievement.
* Set high expectations for students’ behaviour by establishing a purposeful working atmosphere in accordance with the behaviour policy.
* Maintain positive relationships.
* Ensure parents are well informed about the curriculum as well as their child’s progress and targets.
Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in Music or a related field.
* Teaching certification or qualification, but not mandatory .
* Previous experience teaching Music to school students, but we welcome new CVs too .
* Profound knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment methods.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Collaborative team player.
* Updated DBS.
