Axcis Education is looking for candidates with Level 2 or Level 3 awards in Education & Training to support pupils in an alternative, specialist college in Torbay. You will be working with students with complex needs that will require a high percentage of working alone on a 1:1 and a 2:1 ratio. Your role will also include working with students in small groups.
This is a full-time, permanent role, working Monday to Friday (8.30-16.30), and the rate of pay will be between £19,450-£22,570, depending on your previous experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is a hybrid role. For half of the week, your position will be to support a SEND pupil as a learning support assistant. The other half of the week, you will be deployed to support other learning mentors with their practice. This may include reviewing session planning, provision, or communication styles to ensure pupils are receiving high-quality support to make good progress.
As a result, this position requires an applicant who has previously worked as a Teaching Assistant (TA) or has similar experience. The college is part of a registered charity providing opportunities and support for adults with learning disabilities who have an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP). The college is staffed by specialist practitioners with a wide range of arts interests and professional experience. The students are enrolled in courses for areas as diverse as art, drama, dance, textiles, sculpture, mixed-media, photography, etc. The college also supports students to transition into adulthood by developing independent living skills, providing therapeutic input, and building employability skills.
