What is the role about?
Working as part of a team and reporting to an Associate Director for Business Development, this role forms an integral part of the Business Development function charged with leading and developing Reed in Partnership’s Business Development Strategy. The team monitors markets, develops viable operational delivery models and successfully bids for new contracts through predominantly public sector large scale procurement exercises. With existing successful operations in welfare to work, adult skills development and business support markets, this role will make a significant contribution to the growth of the business in new and existing sectors.
Just some of your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
1. Use analytical skills to assess and evaluate new business opportunities in either welfare to work, skills or business support markets in the UK for business for commercial fit and viability to ensure we have a planned cycle of bidding opportunities.
2. Conduct research into customer demographics, labour market and economic factors to support informed recommendations and decision making and delivery proposals that are fluent, persuasive and deliverable.
3. Create/write high quality bid documents and proposals to time and quality measures and that require minimum amendment during final quality assurance.
4. Consult and evaluate the capabilities of potential partners and subcontractors to recommend the most suitable partners for each individual bidding opportunity.
5. Influence and inform internal stakeholders through clear, detailed and logical analysis and presentations of delivery models to identify areas to innovate or which require further development.
6. Demonstrate clear ability to manage own workload via effective project plans and contribute effectively to project management of multi-disciplinary teams at all levels.
7. Work effectively with finance, operational teams and other internal support functions to ensure delivery proposals are in line with overall business strategy, including effective handover and implementation of winning tenders into operational delivery.
8. Develop and maintain appropriate databases for new business sectors, funders, competitors, partners and stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone with:
1. Experience of bid writing, or high quality report writing within a commercial environment with a sales focus.
2. Experience gained working in a highly commercial operational environment in which a focus is maintained on the cost and bottom line impacts of everything that is done.
3. Experience of developing and managing external business focused relationships in a business to business or business to public sector environment.
4. Experience in translating networked and other market intelligence into digestible reports or publications and clear, well argued, focused and actionable business proposals.
5. Experience of working to demanding and tight timescales maintaining a focus on quality of outputs while also building the capacity for quality to improve.
6. Degree or equivalent qualification ideally in a literate and analytical discipline.
7. GCSE English Language at a minimum of a Grade B (or equivalent Level 2 qualification). OR achievement of a Level 2 in Literacy Assessment at interview stage.
8. Demonstrable high level analytical skills working with complex process documentation or large volumes of statistical or financial data.
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills demonstrated in the compelling and persuasive communication of complex business concepts, operational delivery models or innovative proposals, gained in an environment in which the production of high quality written material has been essential to your role or the activity of your employer.
10. Demonstrable commercial awareness with a focus on the cost and bottom line impacts of process and organisational design.
11. Experience in the clear, crisp verbal presentation of business recommendations to time pressured and high level audiences.
12. Demonstrates strong administration skills, good IT skills, including the use of Microsoft packages such as PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
13. Experience of working in the welfare to work sector.
14. Experience of Adult Skills Development.
15. Experience of Community Learning or Business Support.
