Senior Business Development Director, Europe

What you'll be responsible for:
Reporting to the VP of Europe, you will be responsible for developing and managing strategic partnerships across the region. This role requires owning the full sales cycle-from pipeline development to deal execution-while ensuring alignment with company objectives. You will own OKRs and be accountable for identifying, qualifying, and closing deals with key strategic partners.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Driving high-impact business growth by developing and executing strategic partnerships in Europe.
* Owning the full sales cycle, from prospecting and pipeline development to contract negotiation and deal closure.
* Landing and expanding USDC and EURC partnerships with key banks, neobanks, remittance companies, fintechs, and enterprise firms across Europe.
* Leading the execution of commercial deals, ensuring alignment with Circle's suite of products and services.
* Collaborating cross-functionally to design and implement scalable activation and growth programs that maximize ROI for both Circle and its partners.
* Developing innovative partnership strategies, leveraging Circle's assets and tapping into partner ecosystems to drive long-term business success.
* This role requires a highly autonomous and proactive approach, with the ability to navigate complex partnerships and execute independently while staying aligned with broader company goals.

What you'll bring to Circle:
* 13+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or a similar function, with a strong track record of driving revenue and market expansion.
* 8+ years of experience in fintech, banking, payments, and/or financial services, with deep industry knowledge and an understanding of complex financial ecosystems.
* Proven ability to structure, negotiate, and close high-impact strategic deals with C-level executives and key decision-makers across multiple sectors.
* Deep understanding of the payments landscape, including cross-border payments, embedded finance, open banking, and digital assets. Experience in Web3, blockchain, or digital currencies is a strong plus.
* Exceptional pipeline management skills, with the ability to prioritize and execute across multiple initiatives to maximize business growth.
* Ability to navigate ambiguity and work on bespoke, first-of-their-kind partnerships, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders across legal, compliance, risk, product, and engineering.
* Outstanding presentation and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders both internally and externally.
* Strong problem-solving mindset, capable of working alongside technical teams to contribute to solution development for complex, custom partner engagements.
* Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, with a passion for building from the ground up and improving internal processes.
* Fluency in English is required; another European language is a plus.
* Flexibility for work travel (30-50% depending on the time of year), with a willingness to engage partners across Europe.
* Proficiency with Slack, Apple MacOS, and GSuite; familiarity with CRM tools and sales automation platforms is a plus.
