Medical Secretary - Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

We are looking for an enthusiastic member of staff to join our existing secretarial team within the Head and Neck Department as a Medical Secretary to our Oral and Maxillofacial, Orthodontics and Restorative Dentistry Team.
The ideal candidate will have proven admin experience, be willing to audio type, and be able to provide excellent customer care. Experience of using Microsoft applications would be advantageous. We would expect the candidate to have proven relevant experience of working in a similar role.

Main duties of the job
Responsible for providing in-depth administrative support to the OMFS clinical team and the wider department. This will include tracking of investigations including those on Oncology pathways, audio typing of clinics, and ensuring all RTT and outcomes are completed accurately.
Assist with telephone enquiries from patients, GPs, and other agencies in a courteous and helpful manner. Liaising with medical staff and other departments as necessary.
Person Specification
Essential and desirable
* Good standard of education - Maths and English GCSE / Equivalent
* Typing to RSA II / OCR II (WPM 40)
* Experience in similar secretarial/administrative role
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel
* Customer care experience
* Ability to work on own and part of a team
* Audio typing experience
* High level of attention to detail
* Ability to communicate with all (verbally and in writing)
* Knowledge of Trust patient administrative systems and software
* Knowledge of patient target list (PTL)
* Knowledge of referral to treatment (RTT)
* Previous experience working in the NHS / medical / hospital setting
* Minute Taking
* Medical Terminology qualification

Salary: £24,071 to £25,674 per annum pro rata
