Wrexham County Borough Council is seeking a dedicated Tiler/Floor Layer to join our Responsive & Planned Repairs Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for emergency repairs, general repairs, and planned maintenance for tenanted properties within the borough.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Painting & Decorating: To undertake all aspects of flooring installations and walls, repairs or maintenance to council properties, such as welded sheet vinyl, tiles or carpets as required. Works to be completed as flat lay to kitchens and bathrooms or upstand lays in wet-rooms inclusive of all coving works.
2. Project Coordination: Undertake new installation works and remedial repairs as required.
3. Multi-Skilled Tasks: Perform a range of cross-trade multi-skilling tasks as needed.
4. Documentation: Accurately complete all related paperwork and electronic documentation.
5. Mentorship: Mentor apprentices, trainees, or other employees as assigned, and participate in training and development programs.
6. Resource Management: Maintain a stock of materials and equipment within the provided Council vehicle.
7. Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all work complies with current health and safety regulations and standards.
8. Customer Communication: Work within the pre-allocated appointment system, liaise directly with tenants, planners, site agents, and managers to ensure effective coordination of appointments.
9. Diagnostic Work: Carry out pre-inspection and diagnostic work to complete repairs efficiently.
10. Problem Solving: Make decisions on repair requirements and seek advice for issues not identified in original orders.
11. Additional Duties: Perform other relevant duties as directed by the site agent or manager.
Requirements:
1. Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 or City and Guilds in Tiling/Floor laying.
2. Full valid driving licence is essential.
3. Experience: Proven experience in carpet fitting, floor laying and tiling maintenance work, particularly in tenanted residential properties.
4. Skills: Competency in a range of multi-skilling disciplines, excellent customer care, and commitment to health and safety.
5. Communication: Ability to communicate effectively, including in Welsh (desirable).
