Lead Solar Installers
Ecogen Energy is looking for lead solar PV installers in Bristol and Southampton. As a lead installer, you will be responsible for installing solar panels on commercial properties, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
The ideal candidate will have experience leading solar PV or other mechanical or electrical installation teams and demonstrate a commitment to high-quality, timely installations.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll be involved in all stages of an installation project, from inception to completion, including:
Project Planning
* Collaborate with team members to plan and coordinate the installation process
* Prepare Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
Leading a Delivery Team
* Lead and coordinate a delivery team to ensure efficient workflows and high-quality installations
* Communicate effectively with team members, customers, and partners
* Actively support and uphold our commitment to a diverse and inclusive workplace
Project Execution
* Assess locations for solar panel suitability
* Measure and mark out installation areas accurately
* Prepare building surfaces for panel installation
* Mount and install solar panels on roofs and other structures
* Ensure installations meet industry standards and design specifications
* Troubleshoot and resolve installation issues
* Connect solar panels to electrical systems
* Adhere to strict health and safety guidelines
* Maintain accurate records of completed work and materials used
* Documentation of quality control
Project Completion
* Test and commission the system
* Perform DC testing and fault finding
* Ensure proper commissioning and prepare handover documentation
Coaching the Team
* Mentor and develop the delivery team
* Assist with team Professional Development Plans
Requirements
Experience
* Ideally 5+ years experience in solar installation or a mechanical or electrical installation role
* Experience with a wide variety of mounting kit, panels and roof types
* Experience leading teams
Skills and Capabilities
* Valid driver’s licence (required)
* Experience leading and managing teams (required)
* Excellent time management and organisation skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
Preferred Qualifications
* SMSTS/SSSTS (desirable, training can be provided)
* Valid telehandler certification/license (desirable, training can be provided)
Job Requirements
* Ability to work flexible hours as needed
* Ability to travel when required
