The Division of Medicine are currently recruiting an ANP post to complement our existing Multi-Disciplinary Teams within Gastroenterology.
Applicants with a Gastroenterology or General Medicine background would be particularly encouraged, however as part of our ambition to expand our ANP workforce, candidates from other backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.
Main duties of the job
1. Initiate and undertake preliminary investigations, under agreed protocols, following clinical assessment e.g. appropriate blood analysis, Chest x-ray, ECG, GI studies, and cardiovascular investigations.
2. Implement decisions made by senior medical staff.
3. Undertake advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under agreed protocols.
4. Independently perform clinical review and formulate individual care and management plans.
5. Obtain consent for treatment/procedure as required.
6. Complete discharge summaries to General Practitioner.
7. Make appropriate referrals to specialties and professions allied to medicine both autonomously and on behalf of consultant.
8. Undertake research and audit within the service as required.
9. Develop practice-based protocols to lead advanced level of professional practice in care.
10. Implement and undertake training programmes for health professionals using specialist knowledge and skill.
11. Advocate health promotion strategies and modification of lifestyles/behaviour in terms of prevention of deterioration in disease process.

Essential
1. The post holder will be a registered nurse with significant post registration experience.
2. Have completed an MSc in Advanced practice.
3. Have completed the non-medical Prescriber's Course (V300).
4. Maintain Advanced Life Support provider qualification.
5. Attained qualification in clinical examination and clinical diagnostics.
Knowledge and Skills
