Here at Optum, we have a day rate contract opportunity for an experienced User Researcher to join our highly capable and talented Community Pharmacy product experience team.
Responsible for products in over 5,200 pharmacies, we are looking for a User Researcher to take a proactive approach reimagining our core products and innovating in order to create new solutions that significantly improves user experience.
We need you to demonstrate your ability to design and conduct research studies in the pharmacy industry to inform the design of our products.
Please note this is an inside IR35 day rate contract until the end of December 2025 and whilst this is a hybrid working role, you will be required to visit our community pharmacy customers on site on a regular basis.
What you’ll do
As a User Researcher, we will be looking for you to form part of a cross-functional team to align user research activities across multiple projects within our Community Pharmacy product portfolio. Taking a consultative approach, you will utilise a variety of research methodologies from discovery to usability testing to pilot feedback, you will guide stakeholders and our product team in the right approach to address our customers' pain points.
We’re looking for collaborators who will promote and create a culture of user-centred and evidence-based approach to product and service design. As User Researcher, we would look to you to conduct effective contextual inquiry on site to understand how our customers utilise our software and provide recommendations to the roadmap based on this discovery.
Other key responsibilities and accountabilities will include:
* Work closely with Product Designers to help embed rapid research & findings into agile teams and process.
* Align user research sessions and activities with product objectives and priorities.
* Actively engage stakeholders in user research activities.
Who you’ll be
You will be a proven and experienced User Researcher with Community Pharmacy industry experience. With expert knowledge of conducting a range of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, you will have previous exposure to utilising your research studies to inform the design of pharmacy software solutions.
Cliché as it sounds, collaboration is essential. You will be able to evidence success in building trusted and credible relationships with customers to uncover user pain points through your research and work cross-functionally to inform the design rationale.
We’re looking for you to have exposure to both observation and completing thorough documentation that will support the product roadmap. From discovery to delivery, your user research experience will champion a user-centred approach at Optum.
Technical skills we are looking for you to demonstrate include:
* Previous experience in the community pharmacy or healthcare industry.
* Demonstrable experience of designing and running a range of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies across various stages of the product development cycle.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including thematic analysis.
* Ability to think creatively around how to use business insights and mix research methods to help identify the root cause of user pain points.
* Experience of working on multiple projects simultaneously.
