Main duties and responsibilities
You will primarily work as part of the Physician Associate team within Postgraduate Medicine and Public Health undertaking teaching, learning and assessment. You will design engaging teaching activities and set and mark formative and summative assessments which support student learning, and provide academic administration to coordinate module delivery and assessment. You will assist in the provision of academic and pastoral support for students as a personal tutor and facilitate direct communication with students and support communication from other departments within and external to the University. This may include supporting placement provision and engagement with our external stakeholders and partners. You will attend and contribute to Programme Committee Meetings, Programme Team Meetings and other subject group meetings and working groups as required, and attend the Module Boards of Examiners, as required. You will act as a project supervisor for the postgraduate programmes, commensurate with your qualifications, and you will contribute to programme reviews and the revalidation/accreditation of courses, quality assurance and enhancement processes. You will attend and support colleagues with admissions interviews, at Open Days, induction events and other activities to promote and recruit students to the programme. You will undertake research and scholarly activities, as appropriate. Skills and experience required You must possess sufficient breadth or depth of knowledge to work within established teaching programmes. You will have an appreciation and understanding of the educational needs of students, an understanding of students’ prior learning experiences and how these might influence their current educational expectations. You will be proficient in English Language, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to communicate effectively, clearly and supportively with both students and academic colleagues. You will possess ability to deal with conflicting demands and priorities, an ability to work effectively on your own initiative and as part of a team, have excellent organisational and planning skills, and excellent IT skills. Qualifications required A minimum of an undergraduate degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
