This vacancy has come about due to the current Design Manager being promoted internally within the business.

Overview
The Design Manager will oversee the design of bespoke mechanical packaging solutions for machinery.
The Role:
1. Manage and provide support to a team of design engineers, draughtsmen, and technical authors.
2. Control the design programme and allocate resources as necessary to deliver within project timescales.
3. Monitor and ensure high-quality drawings and designs are created before issuing for manufacture.
4. Ensure that project designs are implemented in accordance with customer specifications, industry standards, and contractual obligations.
5. Lead design review meetings to discuss concept designs with other departments.
6. Provide technical assistance to the sales and service teams as and when required.
7. Maintain technical files & machine records to a high accuracy.
8. Monitor systems already in place and offer ideas for improved efficiency.
9. 20% - 40% involvement in hands-on design using Autodesk Inventor.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
1. An engineering degree (or equivalent) is preferred.
2. Experience in designing special purpose machinery is ideal, but open to candidates with experience in mechanical or material handling equipment.
3. Experience in using Autodesk Inventor (or SolidWorks) is essential.
4. Minimum of 3 years experience managing a team of Design Engineers.
5. Strong leadership and team management skills.
6. Adaptability as no two days are the same.
Package & Benefits:
1. Up to GBP55,000 (Depending on experience).

4. Working Hours:
• Monday - Thursday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
• Friday 8:00 am - 3:30 pm.
