About the role Make a real impact on the sustainable future of the Isle of Man with UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man (UBIOM). We are seeking a Biosphere Review Officer who will be primarily responsible for coordinating the 10-year Periodic Review for submission in September 2026 and investigating opportunities for sponsorship and developing a robust framework for a Biosphere sponsorship scheme, or Biosphere fund. The whole island and its territorial sea was designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2016 as part of UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere programme, in recognition of our unique culture and heritage, natural environment, and vibrant economy - making it the only whole-jurisdiction Biosphere Reserve in the world. UBIOM delivers its work under its vision and strategy ‘Working Together for a Sustainable Future’. This sets out a local layer of aims and ambitions that complement the global aims of all biosphere reserves under five headings, or the five ‘E’s: (Economy, Education, Engagement, Enjoyment and Environment).
