L71 SENIOR SOLICITOR (Planning, Property, Contracts and Procurement)
£43,081-£45,033 – Grade 12

We are looking for someone who will be fundamental in meeting the Legal Team’s vision, which is to support the Council in acting lawfully and with high standards of governance to achieve its corporate objectives for the local community. In this role, you will support stakeholders by providing specialist legal advice, representation, and assistance across a range of planning, property, and procurement matters.
We’re looking for an individual who has experience in:
* The ideal candidate will have previous experience within Planning law (drafting planning enforcement notices, planning advice, certificate of lawfulness, planning committees once a month).
* Experience with commercial property matters such as acquisitions, sales, and commercial leases.
* Local government experience is desirable, but we welcome applications from people from all parts of the legal sector.
* The successful candidate will need to be a qualified Solicitor/Barrister/FILEX with a current Practising Certificate.

* Capable of effective communication, both written and verbal, with officers internally, and externally with courts, barristers, professional bodies, stakeholders, and members of the public.
* Self-motivated with the ability to handle a large and varied complex caseload.
* Innovative and strategic in approach.
* Resilient, enthusiastic, and self-motivated.

What you need to know:
A requirement for this role is to attend the Council’s Planning Committee meeting each month.
Successfully shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend a formal interview which may include a test/scenario/exercise to determine suitability for the role.
