A chef is responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of Indian dishes, including curries, tandoori, biryanis, and snacks. They work closely with the head chef to manage kitchen operations, ensure food safety and hygiene, and maintain high standards of quality, presentation, and taste.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and cook a wide variety of Indian dishes such as curries, tandoori items, biryanis, and appetizers (e.g., samosas, and pakoras).
• Master specific techniques like tempering (tadka), slow cooking, and grilling over an open flame (for dishes like kebabs).
• Ensure proper cooking methods for specific ingredients (e.g., use of spices like garam masala, cumin, turmeric).
• Chopping, cutting, mixing ingredients, and cooking dishes in various styles, such as curries, tandoori, and biryanis.
• Handle and maintain a wide variety of Indian spices, herbs, and ingredients, ensuring they are fresh and stored properly.
• Supervise and manage kitchen staff, including other cooks and kitchen assistants.
• Train staff on proper cooking techniques, food safety, and preparation methods.
• Monitor and manage kitchen inventory, ordering ingredients when necessary.
• Ensuring timely and accurate delivery of food.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
Qualifications:
• Experience working in an Indian restaurant is essential.
• Familiar with food safety regulations and able to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
• Passion for food and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
