We are looking for an experienced Operations Supervisor - £31,531 pa - Durham to assist the Site Operations Manager with the smooth running of the Durham Cross Dock. You will have previous experience of home delivery & working within a transport office and warehouse operations. Working hours - 40hrs per week. Shifts Between 5am and 10pm and be flexible on the working day.5 days out of 7. The Role The role will be to assist the Site Operations Manager with the smooth running of the Durham cross dock centre. You will have previous experience of home delivery, working within a transport office and warehouse operations. There may also be a requirement to cover for the Site Operations Manager when they are not on site. Daily responsibilities include: Support a safe and legally compliant Cross Dock and Transport operation Supporting the Site Operations Manager ensuring that all processes are adhered to on site and on the road. Supporting the Cross Dock operations, operating plans, fleet, equipment and resourcing levels meet demand Exemplifies the company’s values and behaviours. Be an inspirational leader communicating consistently Customer focused, ensuring all colleagues understand the impact their role has on customer service; managing performance to improve NPS. Provide innovative solutions to continuously improve performance Coach and mentor the team building talent and succession plans throughout the Cross Dock Operation. Work closely with the Site Operations Manager to ensure efficiencies can be identified and best in practice procedures put into place Supporting objective setting and performance reviews are in place for all colleagues Help to Organise service and maintenance of MHE and vehicles in line with legal requirements Help to Manage driver hours in line with working time legislation Work closely with other depots and stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of the operating Investigate all failed deliveries to improve service. Investigate all H&S issues and incidents and complete reports with root causes and retrospective actions. Complete investigations and disciplinaries for all people processes. Skills needed We are looking for an experienced Transport and Warehouse Supervisor with the following skills, experience and attributes to be successful in this role: Previous experience within a Transport and Warehouse environment is essential. Good geographical knowledge Extensive understanding of transport legislation Experience of Tachomaster or similar would be advantageous Experience of Microlise would be advantageous Good understanding of warehouse operations and warehouse management systems Computer Literate Effective communication style and ability to have difficult conversations and influence home delivery crews and warehouse operatives Demonstrate the ability to improve team performance Experience of carrying out colleague 1-2-1’s and reviews. Experience of dealing with people processes. Health & Safety experience including investigations and reports. Experience of carrying out investigations and disciplinaries. Able to work on own as some lone working may be required.
