Job Description:
As a PE Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching physical education across various year groups and encouraging students to engage in a range of sports and physical activities. You will help students develop not only their physical skills but also a lifelong commitment to fitness, teamwork, and health. You will be expected to provide engaging lessons, promote good sportsmanship, and assess student progress to ensure all students reach their potential.
Key Responsibilities:
-Plan, deliver, and assess engaging PE lessons to students of varying abilities across all year groups.
-Foster a positive, inclusive, and active environment that encourages students to participate in a wide range of physical activities.
-Support students in developing both their physical fitness and sports skills, including teamwork, discipline, and leadership.
-Manage and maintain a high standard of health and safety in physical activities.
-Encourage students to understand the importance of physical health, well-being, and fitness both inside and outside the classroom.
-Promote participation in extracurricular sports and activities, and coach teams where appropriate.
-Monitor and assess student progress and provide feedback to ensure continued development.
-Collaborate with other staff to promote school-wide health and wellness initiatives.
-Contribute to the development of the PE curriculum and participate in departmental meetings.
Skills and Experience:
-A genuine passion for physical education and inspiring students to lead active lives.
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with students, colleagues, and parents.
-Strong classroom management skills and the ability to motivate and engage students.
-Knowledge of the national curriculum and GCSE PE requirements.
-Ability to teach a variety of sports and physical activities.
-Experience in coaching and leading extracurricular sports teams is desirable.
-Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Qualifications:
-A recognised teaching qualification (, PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
-A degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field.
-Experience teaching PE at secondary level is desirable but not essential.
-A commitment to continued professional development.
