Black Tree Gaming Ltd. is the owner of NexusMods.com, a website with a user base of over 60 million users and serving over 6 billion pageviews a year. Based in the heart of Southernhay, Exeter - we are a computer game loving collaborative team solving large scale challenges with the latest technology.
We’re looking for a staff (or above) front-end developer to join our team in Exeter, UK. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in web development and some experience working on high traffic software. A love of computer games also helps.
At Nexus Mods the most important thing is that you bring a problem solving mindset and a positive attitude to the team. In this role we also expect you to be self-driven and able to deliver results whilst performing the usual duties expected of a senior developer.
Responsibilities:
* Working with our development team on the entire Nexus Mods platform which utilises a number of different web technologies.
* Helping to develop and guide new features across our software with the development teams.
* Participating in team meetings, keeping track of your own workflow using project management tools.
* Performing more senior tasks such as code reviews, designing and planning new system integrations, helping out other developers and working with team leaders and directors to ensure projects are running smoothly.
* Working with everyone at Nexus Mods to shape the future of our platform.

Requirements
* Strong communication skills both verbally and written (English).
* Right to work in the UK.
* Expert in JavaScript, CSS and HTML.
* An interest in learning and exploring new technologies.
* Experience working as a staff developer.
* Experience working in agile teams.
* Extensive production experience with at least one front end framework.
* Extensive knowledge of programming best practices, technologies and development.
* Production experience with data fetching tools and integrating with APIs.
* Comfortable learning new tools and technologies.
* Experience with code testing.
* Ability to explain complex code either via comments, review descriptions, or pair programming.
Desirable:
* Comfortable using Linux.
* Experience with TDD.
* Experience with modern CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitlabCI).
* Production experience with a Next.js application (or other complex SSR framework).
* Experience with CSS frameworks/utility libraries (Bootstrap/Tailwind).
* Experience building/working with Design Systems.
* Experience developing with Accessibility in mind (keyboard navigation/screen readers/etc.).
* Any experience of websites running at scale.
Bonus skills:
* An understanding of games modding and knowledge of Nexus Mods.
* A love of computer games.

Knowledge of any of these libraries is beneficial but not required.
We are based in the heart of Exeter, less than 10 minutes walk away from Exeter Central station and 5 minutes from the main high street with all its shops, restaurants and the beautiful cathedral grounds.

* We will offer a competitive market rate salary. ( Range: £60k - £75k + bonus ).
* We work a 4 day week (32 hours) Monday-Thursday.
