Following approval of our 12mppa planning application, Bristol Airport has an unprecedented period of change ahead with capital investment of £400m+. Our teams are growing, and we’re looking for a Portfolio Analyst to join us on this exciting journey.
Reporting into our Portfolio Controller, the Project Controller will work cross-functionally across all airport departments to monitor and control change required by the business, utilising our portfolio, programme and project management software, supporting the successful delivery of our change investment programme.
We’re looking for a candidate who is experienced in project lifecycle methodologies, a confident communicator and skilled in building relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
First stage interviews will commence on the 10th January 2025
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide project support to assist project delivery teams in developing, maintaining, and monitoring project data throughout project lifecycles.
2. Assess and analyse the project data generated to inform portfolio, programme and project decision making through the production of project reporting for Project Boards, Steering Committees, and Investment Boards.
3. Work effectively with and challenge Project Sponsors to resolve gaps in project data relating to the justification and benefit elements of projects.
4. Work effectively with and challenge Project Managers to identify and resolve gaps in project data relating to stage gate checklists, risks, issues, cost forecasting, resource forecasting, assumptions, decisions, health & safety reporting, and status updates.
5. Escalation of out-of-tolerance forecasts and/or risk thresholds through the appropriate governance process.
6. Monitor and assess document compliance within our portfolio, programme and project management software and report on compliance status.
7. Analysis and reporting on themes generated from risk, issue, HSE & lessons learnt data.
8. Support our Equality Impact Assessment (EqIA) triage process through documenting high-level project information and monitor adherence to EqIA improvement recommendations during the project lifecycle.
9. Conduct project quality & health assurance checks in advance of definition/planning stage gate approvals and at defined milestones during the deployment stage to ensure compliance with Bristol Airport’s portfolio, programme & project management framework and processes.
10. Conduct asset capitalisation and verification procedures when project outputs have transitioned into service.
11. Support project teams in initial drafts of investment board papers through providing necessary data from our portfolio, programme & project management software.
12. Support new team members during onboarding in terms of training on the use of our portfolio, programme & project management software, and run periodic refresher/CPD coaching for existing project team colleagues.
13. Working with the Finance team, supporting month- and year-end activities including internal and external audit procedures, evidencing data and documentation requested by auditors.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Essential
1. Data analysis skills including trend and anomaly analysis.
2. Ability to manage multiple tasks including prioritising and communicating task progression with Project Sponsors and Project Managers.
3. Confident in challenging colleagues and building effective working relationships with internal colleagues.
4. Understanding of project lifecycle methodologies.
5. Good time management, prioritisation, and organisation skills, with the ability to work to deadlines.
6. Experience in working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to set expectations clearly.
7. Proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Teams).
Desirable
1. Previous experience of the Microsoft Dynamics platform & Power BI reporting.
2. Previous experience working in project environment.
3. APM qualifications or awareness and exploration.
