Mechanical & Maintenance Engineering Trainer
Delivery of high-quality teaching both practical and theory delivery to apprentices. Inspire and motivate students through outstanding teaching and learning that stretches and challenges students to be the best they can be. Mapping classroom and workshop delivery to on-the-job practical learning. Developing Skills, Knowledge and behaviours to meet the requirements of the Apprenticeship Standard and those required to become proficient in their job role as an Engineer. You will be teaching and assessing apprentices who will be working towards the achievement of the Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician Standard. Full time and part time available.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
The following is an indication of the type and level of the main priorities expected of this role as directed by your line manager and is not intended to be a comprehensive list of duties or tasks:
1. Deliver high quality teaching/ assessing in a designated vocational area in accordance with approved College standards and applicable validating/ moderating bodies.
2. Prepare teaching materials, schemes of work and lesson plans as required.
3. Develop and implement the revised curriculum.
4. Undertake quality assurance in collaboration with the other College staff as applicable.
5. Assess students written and practical work, monitoring and reporting on their progress including writing regular reviews of students Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
6. Record, report and disseminate assessment grades and students results in liaison with parents, carers, employers and professional agencies as appropriate.
7. Maintain good order in the teaching environment, including statutory aspects such as safeguarding, equal opportunities and health and safety.
8. Undertake day to day course management duties including all communication, problem solving, diagnostic compliance, timetable checks and amendments.
9. Arrange/ provide cover at short notice for lessons or offsite where needed.
10. Co-ordinate internal verification scheduling, liaising with all relevant departments as required e.g. Exams, MIS, ALS, etc.
11. Complete all related organisation and administration, ensuring cross site compliance and consistency can be maintained at all times.
12. Visit students in their workplace, setting work place skill development targets with students and their employers.
13. Monitor progress throughout the programme and assess their competency as required in line with the awarding organisation competency criteria.
14. Assist with the recruitment and selection of suitable candidates for courses.
15. Manage enrolment procedures effectively, including Qualifications on Entry, transfers, additional qualification aims and late enrolments.
16. Assist with the organisation and implementation of appropriate Induction Programmes for students.
17. Undertake all required meetings with students, including regular one to one meetings.
18. Set and review SMART targets, assisting students with UCAS references and supporting them with their pastoral needs.
19. Liaise with cross-college services as necessary.
20. Monitor student attendance and student results, including start of year registers, exam entry and attendance.
21. Co-ordinate and administer course performance monitoring.
22. Promote and support English and Maths provision, both in class and on a one to one basis.
23. Ensure that teaching resources are maintained and ordered as appropriate.
24. Maintain all teaching and practical assessment areas to a high standard.
25. Attend meetings and report back as appropriate.
26. Work with colleagues throughout the College to develop courses, training methods and materials.
27. Assist with departmental administration including timely marking of registers and producing reports on student attendance, retention and achievement.
28. Participate in relevant college meetings/ groups/ committees and quality assurance mechanisms.
