With a change of ownership, we are searching for a Logistics Intern to join our growing business and help us to thrive in our next phase of growth.
Ashburton Meat Processors Limited operates year-round from its premises in Bridge Street, producing a range of meat cuts on-time and to specification for several significant local and national clients.
About the Role:
Based at our site in Ashburton, you will be focused on supporting our business by ensuring our goods are received and dispatched in a timely fashion. This is a new role for the company, so there is huge scope to mould and grow in this role into your own. The position could be suited to anyone with a suitable background in logistics, primary industries, and cool storage. Previous experience in carcass logistics would be preferred; however, on-the-job training will be provided to the suitable candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
This is a customer-facing role that requires accuracy with documentation, maturity, professionalism, and a sense of urgency as the role is busy. You will be involved with liaising with freight companies, maintaining accurate documentation, loading and unloading the chillers, as well as ensuring a steady supply and return of CHEP pallets.
To be suitable, you must:
* Be eligible to work in New Zealand
* Be physically fit and able to lift up to 30kgs
* Be computer savvy
* Able to work in a cold environment
* Valid New Zealand forklift licence is preferred or the ability to gain one
* Be able to reach heights
* Be reliable and turn up to work on time
* Have a positive and hardworking attitude
* Be able to work in a diverse team
The work will involve assisting with the loading out of both carcass and pallet product, which involves reaching a high rail, chiller cleaning, and the completion of relevant documentation. The ideal candidates will be self-motivated, have a willingness to learn, be physically fit, and able to reach heights to complete the required tasks in all areas. Applicants with experience in the meat industry would be preferred; however, for the right candidate, full training will be provided.
