Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Manufacturing Process Engineer - Electrification to be based at our customers site in Wolverhampton. Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery. The Role: E xperienced automotive Manufacturing Engineer to join engines, batteries and drives team. This team supports future electrification developments in support of a range of vehicle and you will be involved with developing new, technologically advanced electric propulsion systems. You will be responsible for the development and introduction of new and modified processes and facilities associated with new model introductions and model year changes, within assembly & test. You will be part of the Assembly and Test, Electric Manufacturing Engineering team, working closely with Product Development Engineers, facility vendors and suppliers to ensure that component and whole propulsion designs meet world class quality and efficiency standards. Note that this role will require occasional travel to plant facilities in Europe. Area of Responsibility ? You will utilise your knowledge to develop and implement assembly and in-process test processes and facilities to deliver the safety, quality delivery and cost objectives ? Detailed planning, development and implementation of installation timing plans with key suppliers ? Work within a team of engineers responsible for the planning and implementation of new and major changes to Module and Battery pack unit assembly and test lines ? Provide feasibility statements for Product Development designs to suit manufacturing build requirements. ? Ensure robust process planning including build simulations and PFMEAs ? Support virtual build events raising and championing issues where appropriate ? Support of physical builds at workshop, pilot build and Manufacturing Plant locations, raising and managing issues where appropriate ? Support assembly process strategy for manufacturing. ? Feasibility of design to suit modern assembly and test requirements ? Assembly process & equipment verification at suppliers and at manufacturing facility ? Application of Lean manufacturing & design for assembly principles ? Develop capable processes ensuring built-in quality ? Support new model planning through development of process estimates against study requests ? Manage technical issues and escalate where appropriate ? Support Component Programme Management Teams (CPMT) ? Support the resolution of technical issues and escalate where appropriate. ? Feasibility of all designs to suit manufacturing build requirements Design for Assembly (DFA). ? Planning, developing and implementation of all written Processes for manufacturing. ? Planning, developing and implementation of all tooling, jigs and fixtures for manufacturing. ? Process Capability of all processes and equipment, including Dimensional Management applications. ? Quality Planning and Analysis for Manufacturing. ? Involvement in the departments work through development and monitoring of timing plans. ? Ensure adherence to Integrated Production System (IPS) deliverables. ? Manage technical issues and escalate where appropriate ? Contribute to the development and submission of departmental responses to product letters etc. ? Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time. Knowledge / Experience Relevant previous experience of Manufacturing / Engineering processes, tools and techniques Significant previous experience of assembly and test processes, tools and techniques Significant previous experience of Industrial dispensing systems Hands on approach to engineering/maintenance. Application of Lean Manufacturing Experience of volume manufacturing practices of Powertrain Assembly processes with either a knowledge of High-speed automation, laser welding or HV Battery pack assembly (incl Module) Experience of high-volume facility installation, project management, capability validation, commissioning and product launch. Good IT skills and awareness of Process Authoring Tool (GSPAS), simulation and virtual toolsets e.g.Digi-buck. DES, CATIA V5, ByteWorx. Knowledge and experience of GPDS and LQOS deliverables and timing A good understanding of engineering including the ability to review engineering drawings and CAD models Ideally, educated to Degree level in Manufacturing Systems or a similar engineering discipline. Candidates with HNC / HND and the relevant experience would be considered.
