Job Duties:
The Secondary SEN Tutor will be responsible for providing specialised educational support to secondary school students with special educational needs (SEN). Duties include assessing students' learning requirements, developing tailored lesson plans, delivering lessons, monitoring progress, and adapting teaching methods to meet individual needs. The tutor will also collaborate with school staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
Required Qualifications:
- Relevant experience working with secondary school students with SEN
- Strong understanding of SEN strategies and best practises
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual learning styles
Education:
- A relevant teaching qualification
- Additional certifications in SEN support are advantageous
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with secondary school students with SEN
Knowledge and Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of SEN legislation and educational frameworks
- Ability to create engaging and inclusive learning environments
- Strong assessment and evaluation skills
- Proficiency in using technology to enhance learning experiences
Preferred Qualifications:
- Postgraduate qualification in Special Education Needs
- Experience working in a similar role within a secondary school setting
Working Conditions:
The role of Secondary SEN Tutor involves working part-time hours on a temporary basis. The tutor will primarily be based in a secondary school in Wokingham, Berkshire, but may also need to travel to other locations within South East England. The working environment may involve supporting students with varying degrees of SEN, requiring patience, empathy, and a flexible approach to teaching.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
