Manpower Recruitment are looking to recruit a Junior Chef for an established college in Oxford City Centre.
The role is Full Time, working 5/7 days with shifts on rotation from 7am-2pm and 12pm-8pm. (Some flexibility needed during busier times)
The role is paying £24,960 pa.
The Role
An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Junior Chef to join a dedicated catering team in an established College environment.
The Junior Chef, under the supervision of the Head Chef, is responsible for providing good quality catering provision for academics, staff, students, and visitors throughout the term and vacation periods.

Responsibilities
1. Prepare, present, and cook high-quality, fresh dishes within college guidelines, including for events such as conferences and weddings as directed by the Senior Chef.
2. Keep all working areas clean and tidy and ensure no cross-contamination.
3. Prepare mise-en-place for all relevant menus.
4. Work on own initiative without supervision and occasionally take charge of a shift in the absence of members of the kitchen management team.
5. Work well with colleagues and as part of a committed and dedicated team.
6. Comply with College Security and Fire Regulations.
7. Comply with Health and Safety, COSHH, and all Food Safety legislation.
8. Report maintenance, hygiene, and hazard issues to the Senior Chef in a timely fashion.
9. Assist with accepting deliveries and ensure the standards of goods received.
10. Carry out any other reasonable requests from the Kitchen Management team.
Selection Criteria
Essential:
1. Appropriate qualification to NVQ level 2 or equivalent.
2. High standard of culinary skills in all areas of the kitchen with demonstrable experience.
3. Proven ability to prepare and cook food to the highest standard.
4. Good communication skills and excellent time management.
5. Positive attitude, reliable, enthusiastic, and self-motivated.
6. Ability to work under pressure.
7. Good awareness of seasonal food.
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
9. Good organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
10. A flexible approach to hours and duties.
Desirable:
1. Good sense of portion control and reduction of food wastage.
2. Previous experience of working in an educational establishment.
3. Previous experience of working in a college environment where fine dining is offered.
