Newcastle International Airport became the first UK Airport to ever be crowned winner of the overall category Best in the World, but they also became the first UK Airport to have ever won Airport of the Year in the 0-5 million passenger category for the second year in a row Airside Operations Controller (Fixed-Term Contract): We are looking for a highly-motivated individual to join our Airside Operations Unit on a temporary basis. The role of an Airside Operations Controller is to ensure that all airside operational activities are conducted in a safe manner, meeting both statutory and regulatory requirements, whilst offering an exceptional level of service to passengers and business partners. This is a fixed-term role that we anticipate to end in September 2025, and cannot guarantee that the role will become permanent Requirements: You must hold a valid UK Driving License. In line with Department for Transport regulations, you must demonstrate that you have no relevant criminal record. Role Responsibilities: To promote compliance of airside safety standards and recommended practices in accordance with the requirements of the Aerodrome Certificate, and Safety Management System. To be aware of the company and departmental business objectives and therefore ensure that daily actions and decisions support their achievement. To ensure that patrols, safety audits, inspections and risk assessments are carried out as detailed by the departmental QMS/ SMS. To ensure that the requisite schedules of test, inspection and maintenance associated with airfield facilities, equipment and vehicles, etc. are adhered too and that the appropriate defect reporting systems are utilised and adequately maintained. To provide the administration processes required to deliver an effective airside operations unit. To include the use of software applications (e.g. SharePoint/ SAP) as directed. To assist with the development of departmental interoperability, by liaising with other NIAL airside departments, to ensure that all safety and training requirements are met. To assist with the effective management of the airfield Permit to Work system. To ensure that team members are kept up to date with business and departmental developments via handovers and the team brief process as appropriate. To proactively contribute to effective two way communication within the department, by giving feedback and promoting improvements in efficiency, effectiveness and customer service as appropriate. To provide support and assistance to the Air Traffic Support Officer as required, to ensure Air Traffic Control achieve an appropriate level of service. To ensure that the department meets with its legal and statutory obligations as regards to the mitigation of security, health, safety and environmental risks. To work in a compliant and safe manner, by ensuring that working practices minimise the risks to self, work colleagues, customers, staff and the environment. To implement Newcastle International Airport Emergency Order requirements applicable to areas of responsibility. To ensure that any systems and procedures introduced by the Company, are effectively implemented and adhered to.
