WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land (RBSL) designs, manufactures and supports world leading military vehicles. This is a unique opportunity to become part of the team developing, manufacturing, integrating and testing some of the most technically advanced armoured vehicles.
The individual in this role will report directly to the ‘Team Leader Assembly & Integration’ and be responsible for the assembly, integration and test of systems & sub-systems of modular structures (Mission Module & Drive Module) of the BOXER armoured vehicle to the relevant quality and accreditation standards. The individual will hold relevant qualifications and be able to demonstrate prior experience in relevant areas of manufacture.
Shift work & overtime are planned.
Position Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):-
1. Complete assembly, integration & test tasks for MIV Boxer vehicles in accordance with manufacturing instructions, engineering drawings, quality standards, and SHE requirements.
2. Confirm integrity of vehicle systems, sub-systems and Line Replaceable Units (LRU’s) – including basic tests and fault finding.
3. Be able to read and interpret technical drawings of components and assemblies to understand specifications, tolerances and required materials to carry out the required task.
4. Complete technical reports and assist the Quality department as required.
5. Ensure compliance with company Health, Safety & Environmental Policy requirements, and take any reasonable steps and precautions to protect or minimise harm to the workplace, its employees and the environment.
6. Maintain a safe and efficient working area in accordance with 5S requirements, whilst adhering to a specified production schedule.
7. Check the quality of own work, ensuring traceability through self-certification of production documentation records (e.g. test instructions, test reports).
8. Perform crane operation and lifting tasks in accordance with safe working practices and instructions.
9. As required, support the Logistics team to complete the movement, delivery, and inspection of parts and consumables.
10. In exceptional circumstances, you may be required to undertake work at other facilities (e.g. UK MOD sites, supplier premises)
11. Adhere to the companies code of conduct.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
Required:
12. Level 3 qualification in Engineering/Manufacturing bias (or equivalent experience).
13. Assembly experience working within an electrical or mechanical engineering or production environment in a similar industry.
14. Understanding and application of electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines and principles.
15. Ability to read and understand specifications, technical drawings, work instructions and test procedures of complex structural components.
16. Understanding and application of quality control within the production line.
17. Ability to work with minimal supervision, as part of a Team, or individually.
18. UK MOD ‘SC’ security clearance needed (If no SC yet, RBSL will sponsor application).
19. Candidate must declare any known concerns that they may have in achieving security clearance in their application.
20. Communication skills & ability to transfer knowledge, able to work within a high performing team.
21. Motivated and disciplined with an excellent work ethic, technical aptitude, continuous improvement mind-set and can demonstrate attention to detail.
Desirable / advantageous:-
22. Experience in working in a low volume, discrete, heavy manufacturing environment.
23. Electrical, or mechanical, pneumatic and/or hydraulic system installation & fault finding experience.
24. General knowledge of SAP.
25. Heavy goods vehicle licence (C Licence)
