Status: Full-Time (Exempt – Administrative)/At-Will
Purpose: The Fleet Specialist will work to support project and company needs through efficient management, assignment, and procurement of company owned heavy and light equipment, on-road fleet vehicles, and external equipment rentals.
Job Duties:
1. Coordinating timely delivery and return of owned/rented equipment and ensuring that the equipment assigned to a project meets the expectations outlined and requested by Operations.
2. Assist with the logistical placement and coordination of rental and Company owned equipment.
3. Assists with the management of preventive maintenance programs to ensure vehicle and equipment reliability.
4. Assists with the acquisition, disposal, and replacement planning for fleet assets, ensuring cost-effective procurement and sustainability.
5. Assists with the enforcement of fleet policies to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
6. Assists in developing policies and procedures related to fleet operations and procurement.
7. Analyzes fleet data to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service delivery.
8. Maintains vendor relationships through clear communications and strong customer service skills.
9. Provides technical advice on vehicle and equipment lifecycle including acquisition, maintenance, and decommissioning.
10. Utilizes the Company’s fleet technology systems (GPS tracking, fuel management, and maintenance software) to make informed decisions and provide feedback and recommendations to management.
11. All other duties as assigned by Company management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
2. Ability to prioritize assignments.
3. Ability to communicate professionally in verbal and written form.
4. Ability to proficiently utilize MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
5. Ability to analyze data, generate reports, and make data-driven recommendations to management.
6. Ability to be a self-starter.
7. Ability to leverage technology to increase efficiency.
8. Possess thorough knowledge of fleet maintenance principles, best practices, and industry standards.
9. Possess a high level of organization.
Experience:
1. 3+ years of fleet operations experience preferably in the energy, oil & gas, heavy civil construction, or equipment rental industries.
2. Previous experience using fleet management software (Point of Rental Software), GPS telematics, and fuel management systems.
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to be physically seated for long periods of time in a standard issue desk chair.
2. Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week including weekend assignments when required.
3. Ability to visually tolerate prolonged exposure to computer screens, mobile device (phones, tablets, etc.) screens.
4. Ability to read documents and materials in hard and soft copy form (either naturally or with corrective lenses).
5. Ability to walk, step, climb stairs to access or otherwise move from one location to another which normally involves walking within and around locations and when required to climb and descend stairs to access areas as required.
6. Ability to visually see well (either naturally or with corrective lenses).
7. Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, squat, climb, and sit for long periods of time.
8. Ability to lift and carry up to and including 50 lb. objects as required.
9. Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all-weather conditions as required.
Education:
1. BA or BS in Business, Construction Management, or a related field of study; however, candidates with professional experience will be considered in lieu of education if their professional experience demonstrates the ability to perform the tasks listed in the position's job responsibilities section.
