Role: Communication & Marketing Officer
Contract Type: Fixed term 12-months with option to extend
Hours: 28 hours (0.8 FTE)
Salary: £24,000 (at £30,000 FTE pay band)
Role Overview: As the Communications and Marketing Officer at BSWN, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our organisation's visibility and engagement across various audiences. Your responsibilities will encompass marketing, maintaining brand consistency, communication efforts, website management, content creation, and supporting multiple areas of work.
Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy and Brand:
* Maintain visual brand consistency across all materials and platforms.
* Prepare quarterly and yearly reports showcasing marketing outcomes using data.
* Present fully branded reports every 6 months.
* Define and maintain a consistent tone of voice for BSWN communications.
Communications:
* Develop and distribute newsletters to subscribers.
* Record and analyse email marketing analytics for continuous improvement.
* Monitor published links and their performance.
* Draft press releases and impactful copy for various materials.
* Coordinate PR efforts to boost organisational visibility.
Website Management:
* Oversee the overall maintenance of the BSWN website.
* Update website content on a weekly and monthly basis.
* Monitor and analyse website metrics for optimisation.
* Create new website pages to highlight programs and initiatives.
* Develop compelling copy and content for the website.
* Manage Google Ads campaigns and conduct yearly audits for website improvements.
Programme Support:
* Collaborate with the team on outreach efforts to target audiences.
* Generate campaign reports to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing strategies.
* Conduct case studies and follow-ups after project completion to gather insights.
Events:
* Create or utilise existing copy to set up Eventbrite listings.
* Set up, manage, and track social media adverts.
* Send out special promotional newsletters to engage attendees.
* Attend events, live-tweet, take photographs, and manage freelancers if needed.
* Establish event marketing budgets and write creative briefs to guide event planning and
* execution.
* Provide creative direction and oversee event content editing.
Content and Design:
* Develop both printed and digital assets such as reports, and event and programme
* materials.
* Coordinate photography/videography or collaborate with freelancers for visual content.
* Design captivating social media graphics to enhance online presence.
* Create engaging copy for blogs and other content platforms.
Supporting Areas of Work:
* Attend regular weekly and monthly meetings related to different areas of BSWN's work.
Qualifications
Essentials:
• Strong background in marketing, communications, or a related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in design tools and platforms for creating visual content.
• Experience with website management and analytics.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Familiarity with the principles of brand consistency.
• Knowledge of social media platforms and their marketing potential.
Desirable:
* Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or 3 years industry experience.
* Previous experience in a similar role within the nonprofit or community sector.
* Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
* Familiarity with content management systems (e.g.Squarespace).
* Experience with email marketing platforms and campaign management.
* Data analysis skills to interpret and utilise marketing metrics effectively.
* Ability to create and edit video content using relevant software.
* Understanding of SEO principles and best practices.
* Previous experience working with diverse communities and stakeholders.
* Knowledge of racial justice initiatives and social issues.
* Networking experience within relevant industries or sectors.
