Why this job matters
The TV Devices Senior Hardware Engineer role is a technical position that combines application of both hands on technical depth of understanding and technical breadth with knowledge and experience. You will deliver outcomes to support EE’s strategy to have the right range of TV devices for our customers, and provide collaborative support to understand and resolve issues that our customers face with their TV devices. You will work closely with our TV squads, third parties and business stakeholders to shape requirements and provide key contributions to the delivery new TV devices and resolving issues with existing TV devices.
What you’ll be doing
• Develop specifications for and provide technical support to the delivery of our EE TV devices.
• Support our business stakeholders with technical information related to new EE TV devices, or changes to EE TV devices.
• Collaborate on, contribute to and support in-life issue investigations relating to EE TV Devices.
• Collaborate with and support our partners to develop and support our EE TV Devices.
• Provide key contributions with advice and expert knowledge to provide technical understanding for operational issues.
• Will work with equivalent technical delivery teams to share visibility of new devices and understanding of interoperability between devices.
• Will communicate technically complex issues or solutions appropriately to technical or nontechnical audiences.
• Will self-manage work under broad direction and be accountable for the realisation of goals and project tasks within the agreed timeframe.
Applicable industry knowledge and experience
• Will have applied industry knowledge and experience including some / all of:
• Broad understanding of all technologies involved in delivering TV services over Broadband and DTT to TV devices o Good understanding of electronic hardware, and how hardware and software interacts.
• Experience with device security, ideally including video content security.
• Experience of networks and Wi-Fi, including trouble-shooting approaches.
• Familiarity with TV set-top box development and management.
• Senior stakeholder interaction Experience of interacting with stakeholders, applying influence and sharing technical concepts or technical data in a compelling and understandable way.
• Agile working Proficient in agile task and issue management
• Collaborative Experienced in working collaboratively as part of teams, virtual teams and working with third parties to provide leadership influence and actively contribute to achieve collective outcomes.
• Communication Proven history of sharing information clearly and conveying complex technical scenarios and issues to suit various audiences whilst conveying the key understanding.
