Qualifications & Experience
We would like to hear from you if you:
1. Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, and, ideally, management training
2. Demonstrate successful teaching of GCSE at good or better level
3. Have experience of initiation and effective management of change
4. Show evidence of raising achievement in present post and showing good value added for groups
5. Have knowledge of current curriculum developments in subject and their implications
6. Have good knowledge and understanding of current educational thinking
7. Show good understanding of how children learn and how to raise standards of achievement
8. Have good communication skills in speech and writing
9. Display excellent organisational skills
10. Are able to build and sustain professional standards and relationships with students
11. Are able to contribute towards creating a safe and protective environment

About Us
Harris Academy Beulah Hill is an extremely popular 11-19 academy. We deliver a broad and challenging curriculum to all our students in a calm and well-ordered environment. We have high expectations of all members of the school community.
The purpose of your role will be:
1. To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and to support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
2. To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher/form tutor.
3. To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
4. To contribute to raising standards of student attainment.
5. To share and support the academy’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.
The successful candidate will:
1. Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
2. Have successful teaching experience at secondary level (can be teaching practice), ideally including experience in multi-ethnic urban schools and of working in an 11-18 school.
3. Understand the theory and practice of effective teaching and learning.
4. Understand the importance of high expectations and equality of access for all students, and of being a tutor.
5. Have knowledge of National Curriculum requirements at KS3 and KS4, and of writing lesson plans, developing resources and assessing students' work.
6. Be able to work as part of a team and to develop and maintain positive relationships with all staff.
7. Have a good level of ICT skills, ideally including innovative use of interactive white boards.
8. Be able to create a motivating and safe learning environment for all students.
9. Be able to communicate positively with parents, carers and other external agencies where necessary.
10. Have good written and spoken communication skills.
11. Be able to lead and manage their own work effectively.
12. Have excellent time management skills.
13. Be able to motivate students and raise their aspirations through a range of strategies.
