Dorset Healthcare Estates and Facilities Directorate are looking to appoint a conscientious and self-motivated Estates Maintenance Electrician.
This is a part-time job share role of 15 hours per week, working 2 days per week from 8am – 4pm, plus pro-rata participation in the Estates on-call rota. The post holder will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
The team, based at our new office and workshop facilities in Wareham, delivers pre-planned maintenance and repair services to a variety of Trust premises across Dorset, including Community Hospitals, Health Centres, Mental Health Units, and Administrative Buildings.
Working closely with colleagues in the Building and Mechanical operational teams, as well as the Estates Leadership, Compliance, and Minor New Works teams, the Estates Maintenance Electrician will apply installation, maintenance, technical diagnosis, and fault-finding skills to a range of equipment.
The work is varied, physical, and often challenging. Candidates should ideally have previous experience in a maintenance environment and be flexible in their approach to work.
The post comes with an on-call allowance currently at 4.5% (pro rata), NHS Pension, 27 days leave (pro rata) per year plus bank holidays, overtime paid at premium rates, a tracked vehicle (for business use only), work wear, and all Personal Protective Equipment.
Responsibilities include:
1. Carry out installation, maintenance, servicing, and repairs to a full range of specialist healthcare and healthcare premises equipment, including domestic and commercial gas boilers.
2. Provide a technical diagnostic and fault-finding service on plant and equipment.
3. Provide technical assistance, instruction, and training/mentoring to Maintenance Craftsmen and Maintenance Workers on complex maintenance issues.
4. Provide out of hours cover as part of the Estates On-Call rota.
Employment in this post requires a Standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
Applications from candidates that require current Skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position.
