Technical Officer – Commercial Team (Environmental Health)

Based in Hertford with the option for home working up to 50% of working hours after completion of probationary period.

If we are a good fit for you, you will have the opportunity to work within a supportive team on a wide range of cases.
What will you be doing?
1. Deliver a wide range of regulatory and advisory activities covering food safety, occupational health and safety, infectious disease control, skin piercing registration, Private water supply and Animal licensing.
2. Responding to service requests and giving appropriate advice.
3. Carrying out a range of inspections, investigations, and sampling.
4. Taking appropriate enforcement action where necessary.
About you
As an ideal candidate, you will have:
1. A relevant qualification or experience and a working knowledge of the legislation and regulations.
2. The ability to deal with challenging situations using tact and discretion.
3. Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work without supervision, prioritise work to meet deadlines.
4. Excellent written skills, with the ability to write schedules of work, summarise accurately and convey complex information.
5. For the Food TO post you must hold a suitable Food Law Code of Practice qualification, at Level 5 or above, including but not limited to the Higher Certificate in Food Control, Higher Certificate in Premises Inspection, or a degree in an Environmental Health related subject.
6. Applicants for the Food TO post must also be fully registered with the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB), as a Registered EHP (REnvH) or as a Registered Food Practitioner. Ideally you will have post qualification experience in Food safety and occupational health and safety.
7. A working knowledge of Uniform Enterprise database is desirable.
