Role Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students with behavioural challenges, helping them manage and improve their behaviour while fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. You will work closely with teachers, SEN coordinators, and other staff members to ensure each student receives the support they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-to-one or group support to students exhibiting challenging behaviours.
2. Assist in implementing behaviour support plans and individual learning plans.
3. Help students develop coping strategies, self-regulation, and social skills.
4. Work collaboratively with teachers to support classroom management.
5. Build positive, trusting relationships with students to foster engagement and personal development.
6. Monitor and report on student progress, behaviour, and well-being.
7. Provide emotional support and encouragement to students.
8. Promote inclusion, respect, and understanding within the school environment.
9. Assist with the development and delivery of behaviour intervention programmes.
Requirements:
1. Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational or care setting.
2. An understanding of behaviour management strategies and techniques.
3. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
4. A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting students with challenging behaviour.
5. Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations effectively.
6. A relevant qualification in education, child development, or special educational needs (desirable).
7. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
