My client has a great opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support their expanding Tonbridge/Maidstone, Kent based Painting division. A background in brickwork or plastering in terms of QS would also be very transferable for this role. It is important to have experience managing direct labour as a QS in terms of costings.

The Quantity Surveyor role:
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will actively tender, estimate and measure onsite. You will be fully involved from tendering and estimating through to final accounts, having a real impact on our profitability and commercial success.
1. Measure and prepare cost estimates for contracts and tenders, highlighting any risks
2. Manage the pricing of tenders to maximise business wins and profitability
3. Prepare cost value reconciliations for contracts, identifying commercial risks and opportunities to ensure correct contract planning
4. Work closely with the Contracts Manager to ensure productivity targets are agreed and issued before contract start, including direct labour incentives and sub-contractor management
5. Build strong client relations to ensure any variations and progress of contracts are discussed

You may be an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Surveyor looking for the next chapter in your career. You should demonstrate ownership of contracts, including estimating/tendering, cost control, and CVR management through to final accounts.
