Deputy Director of Clinical Governance and Risk

The post holder will be a key member of the Clinical Governance Directorate (part of the wider Joint Chief Medical Officers' Directorate) and Trust wide senior management team, with specific responsibility for deputising for the Director of Clinical Governance across aspects of the role relating to quality governance, quality assurance, and the management of risk.
Main duties of the job
1. To work collaboratively with the Associate Director of Clinical Governance (Clinical Effectiveness) and the Associate Director of Clinical Governance (Patient Safety & complaints) to ensure seamless provision of services from within the Directorate of Clinical Governance.
2. Responsible for strategic development & leadership of implementation of strategies with specific focus on quality governance & risk management.
3. Working collaboratively with key stakeholders, including Board of Directors, Trust Secretary and Trust's Clinical leadership, leading ongoing development of high quality, integrated & effective governance structures & teams across Corporate & Clinical Groups supporting deployment of the Trust's strategy 'Where Excellence Meets Compassion'.
4. Take a leadership role ensuring that robust, proportionate & responsive clinical governance structures are embedded throughout the Trust.
5. Direct line management responsibilities for the central Risk & Incident team & for Clinical Governance teams embedded across six Clinical Groups.
6. Provide highly specialist leadership across risk management & quality governance & provide expert compliance & regulatory advice as required across the Trust.
7. Act as an expert resource on national issues and local interpretation of national and local regulatory policy, guidance and best practice.

Person Specification
* Educated to Doctorate degree level or equivalent training & experience
* Evidence of other additional relevant specialist training to postgraduate level
* Significant experience of leadership & management at a very senior level
* Experience of managing risk & risk functions within a large and complex organisation
* Experience of delivering patient safety and governance systems
* Knowledge of the regulatory environments within health and compliance required by provider organisations
* Evidence of training in compliance and risk
