SEND Teaching Assistant - Primary Age, Autism Support Location: Solihull - Start ASAP - Long Term Monarch Education is currently recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to support Primary-aged children with Autism in a Solihull-based school. This is a long-term position, starting as soon as possible, in a welcoming and inclusive school that strives to create a supportive learning environment for all students. The successful candidate will have experience working with children or young adults with SEND, particularly those with Autism. You will play an integral role in supporting these students' academic and social development, helping them overcome learning barriers and ensuring they feel safe, valued, and supported within the school setting. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and small group support to primary-aged children with Autism. Implement tailored strategies to support the academic, social, and emotional development of students. Support students with communication and social interaction challenges, using appropriate methods such as visual aids and structured routines. Collaborate with the class teacher to ensure learning is accessible and engaging, and support students to stay on task. Assist with behavior management, creating a calm, structured, and predictable environment for students. Help with practical tasks, including personal care, when necessary, to ensure students can fully participate in school activities. Monitor student progress and contribute to the development and review of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). Build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and the wider school community. Promote positive behavior and wellbeing, fostering social skills and independence in students. The Ideal Candidate Will: Have experience working with children with Autism and other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Be patient, empathetic, and calm, with the ability to engage children facing communication and social interaction challenges. Be able to use visual supports, social stories, and other strategies to assist students with Autism. Understand behavior management techniques and adapt approaches to meet individual needs. Be comfortable working 1:1 and in small groups with children at various developmental stages. Be a team player, collaborating with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for the students. A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or similar) is desirable, though not essential.
