JOB TITLE: PEST CONTROL - Animal Control Officer LOCATION: Postholders will be required to work across Hounslow PAY RATE: £17.01 per hour PAYE or £22 per hour Umbrella START DATE: ASAP 6 months RSPH Level 2 Certificate in Pest Control DRIVING LICENCE REQUIRED - Driving Client Vehicle PURPOSE OF ROLE: Providing pest control services (rats, mice, cockroaches, bedbugs etc) to residents, businesses and Council departments across London Borough of Hounslow. Our client is currently seeking a dedicated Animal Control Officer to join their team in Hounslow. As an Animal Control Officer, you will be responsible for providing public hygiene pest control services to residents and internal and external clients. This includes inspecting premises and land, identifying and assessing pest infestations, and developing and implementing action plans to control infestations and minimise the risk of re-infestation. The successful candidate will have a strong focus on customer service and will work closely with staff, clients, and partners to find effective solutions and achieve positive outcomes for clients and the public. You will also be responsible for liaising with service users, other Council departments, and external bodies to provide advice and guidance on pest control and preventative measures. To thrive in this role, you should have a good understanding of relevant legislation, statutory instruments, codes of practise, corporate policies, and local systems. You must prioritise safety at all times and ensure that all work is carried out within targets and according to standard operating procedures. Requirements: Previous experience in pest control or a related field Strong knowledge of pest control methods and techniques Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to accurately assess and identify pest infestations Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practises in pest control Valid driving licence The working hours for this role will be 36 hours per week, working five days in six from Monday to Saturday. There may also be a requirement to be part of a standby/call-out rota, for which additional allowances will be provided as per Council Policies. Occasional work outside of normal working hours may be required, subject to overtime and/or time off in lieu.
